SOUTHERN GIANT PETREL Macronectes giganteus

This is an immense petrel, Length: 85 -100 cm (33.5 - 39.4 inches) Wingspan 150 - 210 cm ( 59.1 - 82.7 inches), the size of an albatross, is a scavenger of carrion, and often seen around Falklands settlement waste areas and will follow ships for refuse. They will kill injured birds and take penguin eggs and chicks.
A Falklands resident breeding in small numbers, in colonies on some off-shore islands. Lays a single white egg late in October. Breeds on South Georgia and other sub-Antarctic islands in that area, also the Antarctic Peninsular and South America to 30°S.
